Online stores for publishers and cultural projects

Your books. Your readers. Your store.

We design online stores for independent publishers, bookshops, foundations and cultural centers. Sell books, ebooks, publications and everything around your project — postcards, catalogs, T-shirts — from a single platform. You run it yourself, without calling anyone. From €2,970.

This may sound familiar

You have books to sell. And selling online is a circus.

You have a catalog you’re proud of. Good titles, a community that reads you, a cultural project that matters. You’ve already built that.

But selling it is another story. Either you depend on Amazon, which keeps a good part of the margin and, worse, the relationship with your reader. Or you have an old website where changing a price is an ordeal. Or you do it by hand: emails, bank transfers, a spreadsheet and half your Saturday.

And in the meantime, every sale you don’t control is a reader who isn’t yours, and everything that depends on someone else is a week of waiting.

Selling your books shouldn’t require a master’s degree. Or a call to your IT person every time a title comes out.

You live off Amazon

You’re left with the crumbs of the margin and you don’t even know who bought from you. The reader is theirs, not yours.

Changing a price is an ordeal

Your current website holds you hostage. To touch the smallest thing, you call someone and wait. Sometimes for days.

Everything by hand

Pre-orders, orders, sign-ups... emails, a spreadsheet and bank transfers. It works. Barely.

Five tools that don’t talk to each other

The store in one place, the newsletter in another, the catalog in a third. Nothing connected. You in the middle, acting as the glue.

Who it’s for · Publishers, bookshops and cultural centers

If you live off what you publish or what you organize, this is for you.

We don’t build stores for just anything. We work with cultural projects — people who sell books, ideas and experiences, not sneakers.

Independent publishers

Print books, ebooks, pre-orders and bundles. Your whole catalog selling without middlemen taking half.

Bookshops with their own selection

A carefully chosen backlist, tickets to book events and a newsletter. Your program and your store in the same place.

Foundations and associations

Publications, member sign-ups and cultural merchandise. A platform your team runs, not an agency.

Cultural centers and museums

Publications, exhibition catalogs, activities and the gift shop, from a single site — in more than one language, if your audience is bilingual.

Let’s be honest

This is where the story changes.

You sell thousands of titles from other publishers

If you’re a general bookshop with a management system behind you (stock, purchasing, distributors), your store has to hang off it. It can be done, but it’s no longer a store with a fixed price: it’s custom development and it’s quoted as such.

Custom development →

You sell your own

Your catalog, your publications, your merchandise. Whether it’s twenty titles or five hundred, the three plans are built for you.

What you can sell

Everything you sell, in one place that you run.

We don’t sell you plugins or technology. We leave you with a store that fits everything your project sells: a publisher sells books, but a cultural center also sells catalogs, postcards and T-shirts. And you’re in charge.

i.

Print books

Your full catalog, with book pages that say more than the page count.

ii.

Ebooks

Automatic sale and download. The reader pays and gets it instantly, without you lifting a finger.

iii.

Bundles and collections

Group by theme, age or collection. Raise the average order without selling at higher prices.

iv.

Pre-orders

Open reservations before printing. You know how many to print and you fund part of the edition in advance.

v.

Connected newsletter

Your store and your reader list, talking to each other. No copying and pasting emails by hand.

vi.

Catalogs and merchandise

Postcards, prints, T-shirts, catalogs, objects. Everything around your project, next to your books.

How we work

We build it. You keep it. You run it.

We work in stages, with something concrete to see at each one. We build the store, leave the catalog loaded and the book pages polished, and on handover day we teach you to use it in ten minutes.

From there, the store is truly yours: you add, change and launch without asking anyone’s permission. If you get stuck, we’re still a message away — but the idea is that you don’t need us for the day-to-day.

Real cases

An institution and a small press. The same method.

No invented clients here. Two cultural projects, two different sizes, both stores up and running.

Cultural institution · Granada, Spain

Centro Federico García Lorca

Online store · Cultural catalog · International sales

The Centro Federico García Lorca in Granada has one of the most distinctive collections of cultural merchandise in Spain: T-shirts, notebooks, fans, all bearing the poet’s mark. They had no store. They wanted one their own team could run from day one.

We built it from scratch, organized the catalog by collections and left it selling in several markets, including in dollars. There was one criterion: that anyone on the team could add a product without technical training. We got there. It’s the same thing a museum shop needs: its own products, collections and a team that runs it without calling anyone.

Independent publisher · Madrid, Spain

Ya lo dijo Casimiro Parker

Online store · Book catalog · Collections

An independent publisher in Madrid with nearly two decades publishing poetry and fiction, and a catalog of more than a hundred titles spread across collections. We built them a store where the catalog keeps itself in order: new releases, backlist, collections.

Where the Centro Lorca shows this works for a large institution, Casimiro shows the other side: that a small press can have a store worthy of its catalog without a multinational’s budget.

Our own theme

Your store, on Parker.

We build publishers’ stores on Parker, our Shopify theme for books. Every author with their own page and all their books underneath, book pages with ISBN, page count and edition, books and merch in the same store, two styles and bilingual. And if you’d rather build it yourself, the theme is free.

Does your center also sell courses, art or music? That’s what Parker Open is for, the sister theme for products with an origin.

The investment · Straight to the point

Three plans. Depending on what you sell and how far you want to go.

The difference between them isn’t "more of the same": each plan solves a different need. Before VAT, and stated from the first minute.

Prices + VAT. Do you have a grant, or are you applying for one? We adapt the scope of the project to fit what it covers, or to reach the amount you need to justify. And if later on you want to sell tickets to book events or courses, they’re added when the time comes — inside your same store, without building anything separate.

Which platform fits?

Shopify or WooCommerce, no smoke.

There’s no universal answer: it depends on your catalog and on how hands-on you want to be. This is what we look at with each publisher before deciding.

What you needShopifyWooCommerce
Getting started without knowing techYes, out of the boxWith help
Running it yourself every dayYesTakes more hands-on work
Very specific customizationLimitedNo ceiling
Large, complex catalogYesYes
Forgetting about updates and maintenanceYesOngoing maintenance

For most publishers and cultural projects, Shopify wins on peace of mind: you run it yourself and there are no scares. WooCommerce comes in when you need something very custom. We tell you straight, based on your case — we’re a member of the Shopify Partner program, but not married to anyone.

What working together is like

From the first call to selling, in four steps.

01

You tell us

You write to us with what you sell and where you are. We reply within 24 hours with the plan that fits and a date.

02

We build

We build your store and leave the catalog loaded and ready to sell. You review, we fine-tune.

03

We teach you

Ten minutes and you know how to add a title, change a price and launch a pre-order. No manual.

04

You fly solo

The store is yours and you run it. If you get stuck, we’re still a message away.

Who’s behind it

A person, not a call center.

Mister Mikel designs online stores for publishers, bookshops, foundations and cultural centers. Behind the brand is Mikel, with more than fifteen years in communication and advertising — including his time at Bassat Ogilvy — and a member of the Shopify Partner program. He works with small teams and cultural projects because that’s where the craft shows: a well-thought-out catalog, a book page that makes you want to buy, a store your team understands.

A few projects at a time, and yours is run by the same person from start to finish. No templates, no subcontractors, no rush. If you’re looking for the cheapest option, there are other agencies for that. If you’re looking for someone who understands what you publish, we’re here.

Is yours not exactly a store? We also build custom digital projects.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us before the first call.

How much does an online store for a publisher cost?

It depends on the catalog and on what you want to sell, but we start at €2,970 + VAT for a simple store ready to sell. A custom platform would cost several times that; a well-built store doesn’t. The three plans — €2,970, €4,985 and €6,860 — cover everything from a small press to an institution with a large catalog.

How do you work and how long does it take?

In stages, with something concrete to see at each one. A simple store is usually ready in a few weeks. We hand it over with the catalog loaded and teach you to run it yourself on handover day.

Can I sell ebooks as well as print books?

Yes. The ebook delivers itself: the reader pays and downloads it instantly, without you having to send anything manually. You can sell the print and digital versions of the same title, each at its own price.

Can I sell tickets to book events and courses?

Yes, and without leaving your store. Tickets work like any other product, with their confirmation and attendee list; online courses, as a digital product. No sending your audience to an outside platform that takes a commission and keeps your customers. It’s usually added once the store is up and running.

Can I run pre-orders?

Yes, and for a publisher it’s one of the most useful things: you open reservations before printing, see how many you’re going to print and fund part of the edition in advance. Less risk, better cash flow.

Can I manage the products myself?

Yes, that’s exactly the idea. Adding a title, changing a price or launching a pre-order is something you do in a couple of clicks. We show you how on handover day, without hundred-page manuals.

Can I import my current catalog?

Yes. If you already have the catalog on another website or in a spreadsheet, we migrate it. For large catalogs, with hundreds of titles, there’s the Expand plan.

Does it support ISBNs and variants?

Yes. Each title can carry its ISBN, and variants — hardcover or paperback, language, signed edition — are managed without fuss from the same book page.

Can I sell in two languages?

Yes. A second language — English, Basque, Catalan or Galician — is part of the Grow plan. For many institutions, having their site in two languages isn’t a luxury, it’s the norm, and we leave it sorted.

Can I sell to other countries?

Yes. We set up languages, currencies and shipping zones. The Centro Lorca, for example, also sells in dollars. Full international selling is the Expand plan.

Shopify or WooCommerce for a publisher?

For most, Shopify: you can run it without knowing tech and it holds up as you grow. WooCommerce makes sense if you need very specific customization. We’re a member of the Shopify Partner program, so we tell you frankly what fits your case, without overselling.

What if I have a grant or subsidy?

We adapt the project to you. If you have a grant or are about to apply for one, we adjust the scope and budget to fit what it covers or to reach the amount you need to justify. We don’t handle the application for you, but we do structure the project to fit it.

Do you build stores for museums?

Yes. A museum shop is a lot like the one we built for the Centro Lorca: publications, exhibition catalogs and its own products, organized by collections and run by the museum’s team. If it also has to connect to the ticket office or to a management system, that’s custom development and is quoted separately.

Do you have your own theme for bookshops and publishers?

Yes, Parker. It’s the base we build the sector’s stores on: author pages, book pages with ISBN, two styles and bilingual. If you install it yourself, it’s free.

Let’s talk
